As of 2025, Bangladesh`s total installed power generation capacity has reached approximately 25,500-26,700 MW, while projected peak demand is climbing—estimated to reach 30,000-33,000 MW by 2030, and nearly 52,000 MW by 2041. The nation continues to rely heavily on fossil fuels—natural gas, coal, and heavy fuel oil—for electricity generation, while renewable energy remains under-represented at around 5-6% of total electricity, much lower than regional peers.
